Unique Divine

Unique is Sai’s founder and primary technical lead. He works across the exchange’s smart contracts, trading application, and infrastructure, alongside product direction, the white paper, and venture fundraising. He also founded Nibiru and wrote much of the underlying blockchain software that supports Sai.

Before venturing into blockchain, Unique studied Physics and Computer Science at Columbia University in the City of New York, where he also completed graduate studies in Applied Mathematics at the top of his class. His early research centered mostly on quantum cooling, astrophysics, and computer vision. In undergrad, he shifted focus from physics to applied machine learning (computational genomics, natural language processing, and performant Transformer architectures). Unique worked for three years as an Artificial Intelligence Engineer prior to jumping into Web3.

Though Nibiru forms the vast majority of his tenure in the blockchain space, Unique created, evaluated, and deployed onchain trading strategies on Ethereum contributing to the Sommelier Protocol prior to starting Nibiru.

Fun Facts

• Unique committed himself to a personal ritual of programming at least 30 minutes a day, every day, no matter what. He’s stuck to this for almost 4 consecutive years, as of Jan 2025.
• Unique speaks, reads, and writes Japanese, teaching himself entirely through active self-study and media immersion.
• Unique is a Texas native and is still based there to this day.
• Member of the “1000 Pound Club” (453.59 kg), boasting a squat of over 450 lbs.
